Tameside Youth Drama Group

About the Group

The group was started in 1986 by Dennis and Jean Nash at Rycroft Hall in Audenshaw. It has been very successful for last 29 years and many of our past members have taken up careers in the theatre as dancers, actors, stage crew and costume designers.

We do two shows a year, a Pantomime in January and a Musical in July.

Our Shows take place at Hyde Festival Theatre. Corporation Street, Hyde, Tameside. SK14 1AB. The Seating plan is available on the Coming Soon/Hyde Festival Theatre link.

A number of our past members are now leaders of the group many of which have over 10 years teaching experience. Our committee members, leaders, stage crew and helpers are all volunteers and do not receive any remuneration or expenses for their time and expertise.

We keep our membership, costume & weekly fees at an affordable price to enable children from all backgrounds to join and learn about the joys of performance.

All leaders and helpers are CRB checked and several are also First Aid trained and safe guarding certified.

Our group consists of children from the age of 8 to 18 years, each child within our group have found out about us via a friend or by watching the productions.

We hold weekly rehearsals at Astley Sports College and Community High School, Yew Tree Lane, Dukinfield, Cheshire. SK16 5BL. We start at 6:45pm till 9:00pm on a Wednesday and Sunday 11:00am till 1:00pm (During Rehearsals)

We operate a strict policy of no bulling or anti social behaviour, each child is treated with respect and we ask the same in return.

A child's mind is like a sponge ready to learn new experiences, with TYDG our aim is to build confidence and to tap into their natural ability.
